Mary Beth Ulrich Webb Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Higher Education
Dr. Webb was named Professional of the Year in Higher Education in May 2011
PIKEVILLE, KY, August 5, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Beth Webb, Math Educator and Associate Professor for the University of Pikeville, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
Teaching approximately 12 hours per week and maintaining at least five office hours per week, Dr. Webb has certainly kept herself busy for the past 20 years. She has an expertise in developmental mathematics, which she passes on to her students at the University of Pikeville. Having a stroke at the young age of 22, she had to re-learn many simple things, including multiplication tables. Her story serves as an inspiration to her students, as she was interviewed by the students at Pikeville's medical school as a stroke patient.
Dr. Webb earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1973, followed with a Master of Science in Education in 1984, and an Ed.D. in Math Education in 1988, all from Illinois State University. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Kentucky Association of Developmental Education. Looking forward, she hopes to continue to improve and perfect the developmental program for mathematics at the University of Pikeville.
