At the NorthShore University HealthSystem, Dr. Wachtel oversees planning, data collection activities and the interpretation of clinical trial research. He reviews clinical trial contracts and develops clinical strategies and policies. Formerly, Dr. Wachtel was employed by The University of Chicago as a research associate for the department of psychiatry. With 19 years of professional experience, he attributes his success to his hard work.

Dr. Wachtel is the recipient of an MBA, a Ph.D. in Cellular and Clinical Neurobiology, and a Master of Arts in Psychology. He is a member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals, The Association of University Technology Managers, and the Society for Neuroscience. Having published over 20 articles and book chapters, Dr. Wachtel has been recognized with Brain Research Foundation travel awards and a National Institute on Drug Abuse travel fellowship.
