Marlena G. Buchanan Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Marlena G. Buchanan celebrates 30 years in the nursing field
HENDERSON, KY, February 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marlena G. Buchanan, Associate Professor of Nursing at Henderson Community College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing education.
As an associate professor of nursing at Henderson Community College, Ms. Buchanan is responsible for teaching the last semester for advanced medical surgical nursing and pediatrics, and advising and working with students to help them get into the program. She also conducts CPR classes and is a certified health parish nurse at Henderson Church of Christ. With 30 years of experience in her field, she specializes in critical care and medical-surgical nursing. Ms. Buchanan serves as the master of ceremony for the annual critical care challenge competition. Recently, she took a creative writing class and will be publishing a children's book in the future. She attributes her success to her passion for nursing and her desire to make a difference in people's lives.
Ms. Buchanan received her Master of Science in Nursing - Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2000 from the University of Southern Indiana. She also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana. She received her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Paducah Community College. A certified adult clinical specialist and critical care registered nurse, she is the president of the local chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and a member of the Nursing Alumni Society at the University of Southern Indiana. She hopes to become a professor.
