Dr. D. Ross Thomson Recognized for Excellence in Career Development and Education
D. Ross Thomson is a motivational speaker and career consultant with 45 years of experience
CLIFTON PARK, NY, December 2, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. D. Ross Thomson, Career Consultant and Speaker for Careers by Choice, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in career development.
With more than 45 years of experience in the field of education, Dr. Thomson has worked at the high school and college levels. From 1967 to 1998, he worked with the New York State Education Department. From 1998 to 2010, he has also been involved with Bryant & Stratton College as a full-time professor and subject area coordinator; he served as the principal architect of the college's Career Core curriculum. During that period, Dr. Thomson taught human relations, critical thinking and career management courses.
At the SUNY College at Oneonta, he instructed graduate-level courses on cooperative education for six years. This was the prerequisite course for teachers looking to obtain certification as diversified cooperative education coordinators.
Since 1991, Dr. Thomson has operated his own private firm, NETCORE Consulting, where he conducts career development and communication seminars for business corporations and nonprofit organizations. He offers career consultations to corporate executives through this channel, as well as through the website, http://www.liveperson.com. For 20 years, he has also hosted a live, two-hour, monthly television program.
Currently, at Careers by Choice, he communicates with college students, speaking at seminars on college campuses. Dr. Thomson has presented motivational speeches at hundreds of conferences held by professional associations, student groups, educational institutions and community organizations.
He holds a Ph.D. in counseling, with a concentration in career development. He also holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in English. A member of Phi Delta Kappa International, Dr. Thomson supports the Special Olympics. In 1982, he was honored with a community service award by the New York State Commissioner of Education.
