Zaida M. Castro's extensive education enables her to thrive as an administrative specialist for the University of the Virgin Islands

Saint Thomas, VI, October 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zaida M. Castro, Administrative Specialist for the University of the Virgin Islands, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in educational administration.

Zaida M. Castro received her Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Administration and Supervision in May of 2008 from the University of the Virgin Islands.

Zaida M. Castro has served the University of the Virgin Islands for over nine years working in areas such as Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, and currently the Office of the Provost. Ms. Castro's desire to become involved in her profession sprung from a keen interest towards Higher Education Administration along with her delight in the daily interactions with students, and her educational background.

As an Administrative Specialist for the University of the Virgin Islands, Office of the Provost, Ms. Zaida M. Castro assists the Provost along with executive staff. In addition to serving as Liaison for the Office of the Provost, Ms. Castro assists with the Part-Time Faculty application processes, an assortment of contracts, and thorough keeping of various records, while recruiting, training, and supervising student workers.

Moreover, Ms. Castro aids faculty with record keeping of Curriculum proposals and other inquiries. Ms. Castro guides students in scholarship opportunities, establishes and maintains relationships with vendors, and provides support with the planning of various annual Academic Affairs events. Some of these scholastic events include Faculty Institutes and Orientations for Full-Time and Part-Time Faculty.

She attributes her success to her faith in God, discipline, and devotion to a good work etiquette, along with the importance of continuing to develop character and virtues. She also ascribes her achievements to encouragement from family and friends, accepting transition and transformation, persistence, and her education.
